The Best Birthday Present Ever!

Seven months ago I posted a query on regarding my husband's great grandfather Reverend Phares B. Harrison, but despaired of ever hearing from any descendants. This morning, on my birthday, much to my surprise and delight, there was a response! It is almost as if Phares is wishing me a happy birthday. His birthday was also in March (March 6) and he too was born under the Pisces sign, so since I "found" him some years ago I've felt a strong connection to him and his family. The person who responded to my query is a great great grandson of the Reverend. I am thrilled to connect with him and his family, and look forward to getting together to talk about Phares. What a fabulous birthday present!!!

  1. Billie: I love the serendipity that comes with pursuing our families' stories. How wonderful for you. A similar surprise happened to me several years ago after I had posted a query in an Irish newspaper. The response came on St. Patrick's Day!

  2. B, I am looking at the little photo of the sweet
"cottage" and wishing I could walk through your
garden. Spring is such a hopeful time of the year. Thinking of you and Dick.

  3. Hey, I found a reference to Phares:

I'm looking into him too. I think it must be my brother who contacted you. Looks like you have a nice spot on Whidbey!

  4. Hello Mary Jane -- definitely deja vue! Were you perhaps named after Mary Jane (Phares' wife)? So excited to hear from you! My husband is a descendant (great grandson) of Phares and Mary Jane. I have been researching and writing about this family for five years, and am still writing their story.
Did Peter share with you what I sent him?
I also sent an email to your website.
Look forward to hearing from you, Billie C. Barb
